Wetlands Roadway Alternative

This site-scale mapping project illustrates the preferred roadway alignment in an alternatives analysis, designed to minimize wetland impacts while supporting development goals. The final map integrates aerial imagery, wetland boundaries, and impact acreage to provide a clear visualization for decision-maker review. By focusing only on the section of roadway with ecological impacts, the project demonstrates how GIS can balance infrastructure planning with environmental constraints.

Key Metrics

  • Prepared the map at 1” = 500 feet scale in an 8.5” x 11” landscape layout.

  • Digitized and displayed the roadway alignment centerline and right-of-way boundary.

  • Overlaid wetlands and wetland impacts on aerial imagery for clarity.

  • Labeled each wetland with its FLUCFCS code and annotated impact areas with acreage values.

  • Exported final deliverable to 300 dpi PDF with full cartographic elements (legend, scale bar, north arrow, neatline).
