Data Science
This section highlights Allison's academic and practical work in data science, from statistical modeling to data analysis. These projects demonstrate her proficiency in languages like SQL and R to clean, analyze, and interpret data. The work here focuses on applying fundamental data science principles to solve real-world problems and uncover meaningful patterns within raw data.
This project involves the design process of implementing a robust SQL relational database for a student accommodation company transitioning to an e-commerce model. The project emphasizes not just technical SQL skills but also business problem-solving, creating a scalable foundation for digital transformation in property management. It highlights Allison's strengths in structuring data systems for efficiency and growth.
This project applied regression analysis in R to a dataset of 9,000+ exoplanets from the Open Exoplanet Catalogue. The goal was to predict an exoplanet’s orbital period based on host star and planetary characteristics. Through forward selection, backward elimination, and all possible regressions, the model identified five significant predictors while addressing challenges with outliers and heavy-tailed distributions.
